  1. Gail M. Lofdahl's avatar Gail M. Lofdahl says:

My maternal grandfather, Peter P. Salzbrunn, died in a grain elevator construction accident in 1947 in Clinton, Iowa. According to my father, concrete was being poured for the head house and the scaffolding collapsed, sending several men plunging to their deaths.

Does that grain elevator still exist? I dimly remember seeing photos of it, but don’t remember anything distinctive about it–it was an ordinary-looking series of concrete elevators along the river.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
